Enjoying Outdoor Games–Bouncy Castles: Safety First!

It is warmer outside, grass is getting greener every day and leaves are growing in the trees. Nice to go out and play! What about renting inflatable games to celebrate springtime and upcoming summertime?

Party in your backyard! With all of those stories going around about bouncing castle, you want to make sure children have fun and nobody gets hurt before its time to go to bed. Here are a few points to put on your checklist to ensure that the activity goes well and that everybody has fun.

Is the bouncy castle you’re renting well maintained?

You want to make sure the equipment you’re renting is clean, well maintained and in good condition. Here at 123 Flip Flop, we inspect our units after every rental to ensure everything is allright for the next person who will rent it. Nobody has time to go through the hassle of returning the unit back to the store because they found tears, dirt or slimy yuckiness all over it while trying to get ready on time for the excited kids to jump around. Especially not when all excited about an upcoming party with company coming! Mandatory safety pegs to anchor it on the ground are always provided. We also carry a 2 million dollars liability insurance to have all bases covered.

13 A Dozen Security Guidelines

  1. The site where the playground will be set needs to be chosen carefully. For outdoors, look for a mulch, grass or sand surface. Extra space around the unit and extra cushioning at open side never hurts.
  2. Barbecues or smoking around the inflatable is obviously unadvisory.
  3. Safety anchorage to the ground with pegs is mandatory for outdoor use.
  4. Adult supervision is required at all times. The inflatable is not a baby sitter!
  5. Capacity is very important. Make sure no more kids than the maximum capacity recommended by the manufacturer are playing in the unit. Knocking off playmates is never fun for long.
  6. Smaller children should be allotted time to use the bouncer at a different time than bigger or older ones.
  7. During peak attendance times, the supervising adult should make rotations to ensure everybody have their fair share of fun.
  8. Drinking or eating, or even chewing gum, should be done at another place and time than while hopping around.
  9. Climbing on walls, back flipping, pushing, or fighting is prohibited.
  10. Shoes are to be left at the entrance. As well as jewelry, glasses, pins, toys or any sharp object one is wearing.
  11. Human use only! No pets should be allowed on or around the inflatable.
  12. Kids should not be allowed to touch the power unit.

Last but not the least; nobody should be in the unit during the inflation or the deflation.
